Emily and her husband started Prefer Pets in 2006 after a memorable experience with their two dogs, Button and ShoSho. One day, Button escaped from his carrier while they were on a drive, running around the car and hiding behind the brake pedal. Fortunately, they stopped safely, but this incident made them realize they needed better travel carriers for their pets.

They began creating their own carriers, starting with a duffel bag and a backpack, designed with the features they wished they had that day. Over time, they improved their designs based on feedback from customers and their own experiences with Button and ShoSho as they aged. Every product is made with careful attention to quality, durable materials, and thoughtful design, emphasizing old-fashioned customer service.

Today, Prefer Pets is still a family business based in Southern California. Though Button and ShoSho are no longer with them, Emily and her team continue to make high-quality travel carriers for pets and their owners. Their goal is to help people travel safely and comfortably with their pets, sharing the joy of life's journeys.
